About People, Practically

People, Practically helps managers and people professionals work through the human side of managing a team. That might mean preparing for a conversation you’ve put off, or finding out why a handover keeps going wrong.

A chance to practise before it matters

In the online learning, managers follow a workplace situation, choose how to respond and consider the feedback. A team can use the same scenario to discuss how they’d handle it in their own organisation.

For something you need to do this week, the Everyday People Toolkit includes worksheets to help you prepare for a one-to-one or agree expectations with a colleague.

Ant Douglas, founder of People, Practically

Hello, I’m Ant

I’m Ant Douglas, founder of People, Practically and a senior people and culture professional. I’ve spent more than 15 years in people roles, including over 10 years in senior leadership, alongside hands-on experience of managing teams.

Experience grounded in the work

Much of my experience has been in charities working with people and communities. I’ve led people functions, supported organisational change and worked directly with managers and teams, balancing the needs of individuals with the responsibilities of running an organisation.

That experience shapes the way I work. I understand how much can sit behind a difficult conversation, a team challenge or a decision about someone’s development, and how useful it can be to have space to think it through.

What that means for People, Practically

People, Practically brings this experience into practical learning and individual support for managers, leaders and people professionals. The focus is on building confidence and judgement that people can draw on in their everyday work.

The offer is open to all sectors, with particular experience of charities and purpose-led organisations.
